On November 29th,2017 around 3:00am we took our precious Clara, to Children's Hospital due to some severe cold symptoms. She was very congested, running a high fever and her appetite had decreased. We were sent home a couple hours later diagnosing Clara with Bronchiolitis. They explained that with her being only two months old a little cold can be harder to overcome than adults. The next morning on November 30th, Clara just did not seem any better. We felt like her symptoms had become much worse so we took her back to Children's Hospital. They admitted her to the respiratory unit for RSV . She was placed on some oxygen and they were going to monitor her for a day or two. At this point we were just glad to have some help and an extra pair of eyes watching our sweet girl.
The first night was a night we will never forget. I was feeding Clara a bottle and I noticed she was really struggling to breath. I called the nurse in and within a minute we counted 7 nurses and doctors at her bedside. As a registered nurse I knew with this many care team members something was not right. I stood back helpless, sobbing and praying that God would watch over our baby girl. The nurse looked at us and said, " Clara is really struggling to breath and she needs more one on one care, we need to move her to PICU now ." As we ran behind her little bed as they were transferring her to PICU at 2:00am, I sent out texts and emails asking for prayers for our precious Clara. We knew HE had her in his hands at this moment.
The struggle set in once we settled into the PICU(Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). Many care team members were surrounding her little bed putting on high flow oxygen, placing a feeding tube and IV, attaching sensors all over her little body to monitor her vital signs. Watching your baby struggle to breath was heartbreaking for this mama. I would pray at her bedside every night for God to heal sweet Clara and to take away her struggle to breath. Without a doubt you could feel God's presence in her room. Everyday I would try to send out updates on how Clara was doing. Some days were good updates other days were days of regression. But ……….
After a week in the PICU, Clara was able to wean off oxygen, the feeding tube was taken out and we were transferred back to the respiratory unit for observation before being discharged. Clara was able to stay off oxygen for 24 hours and her eating was back to normal, which allowed her to be discharged the next day. We know that God was watching over her during those nine days. All the prayers were heard and he healed our precious little fighter. She still has some minor respiratory issues that we battle throughout the winter season due to having a history of RSV. But with that being said, we want to give praise for a healthy thriving little girl and are so thankful for all the nurses, doctors and Care Team members that was apart of Clara's care during our stay at Children's Hospital. But mostly we are THANKFUL for a Mighty God that created this precious child and held her during her struggle and healed her with His nail scared hands!!!!
We are Soul Blessed that Clara is healthy today !!!
Our family would like to thank you for your donation in making our GIVING BACK mission possible.
PLEASE PRAY FOR THESE BABIES AND NURSES AND DOCTORS. GOD HOLDS EACH ONE IN HIS ARMS.
